The Finnish box spring bed manufacturer Fennobed brings a fresh Finnish wind to the east of the Republic with a new showroom. The family-owned company Fennobed opened a new showroom in the heart of Dresden, at Neustädter Markt 6, on Tuesday, April 25. 150 m² of exhibition space will showcase the bed models Cassia, Kaino, Domus and the test winner of the German Stiftung Warentest (test 09/2016), the Continental box spring bed Aurea. Owner Sven Ferber is a long-time member of the Fennobed family. As an employed branch manager in the Leipzig showroom, he has already advised numerous customers in personal conversations. „Box spring beds from our own manufacture, personal customer advice from the owners and a Europe-wide partner network: everything simply fits together here. That’s why I’m now venturing into self-employment with my own showroom in Dresden,“ explains the owner. After the premises were renovated for three months with great attention to detail, the prefabricated building from GDR times now appears in new splendor – under the watchful eye of the gilded monument to King August the Strong. The so-called Golden Horseman has been watching over Neustadt Market since 1736, where the new Fennobed showroom opens its doors today.
The Fennobed modular principle: durable, customizable
In Finland, the bed is a place to live. It’s where people relax after a sauna, have breakfast on the weekend, and sometimes romp around with the whole family. That’s why Finns are demanding when buying a bed: it has to be comfortable, natural, but also timeless. To meet these demands, founders Elli and Andreas Lehnhoff have developed the Fennobed modular principle. The core of each box spring bed is therefore the snow-white Matri beds, which are made from certified softwoods in the family’s own manufactory. With a variety of headboards, bed covers and feet, each customer can customize their box spring bed. Just as easily, they can be redesigned to suit any mood or fashion and season.
From design to production to sales – the Fennobed family.
Fennobed can be found at numerous locations in Europe. At the same time, the box spring bed manufacturer has always emphasized a family atmosphere within the company. The two founders met and fell in love during their studies. Elli Lehtonen grew up on the southwest coast of Finland, where her parents designed and produced high-quality furniture in their own workshop. Her furniture design studies took her to Schwäbisch Gmünd for an Erasmus semester, where she met Andreas Lehnhoff. The son of an engineer wants to become an industrial designer. The two decide to go their separate ways, not only privately but also professionally. In 2004, they founded the company Fennobed, for which they still design the beds themselves. They bring Elli’s brother Kalle Lehtonen on board and, with his help, are able to manufacture entirely in the family’s own factory. Sales and advice are provided by members of the Lehnhoffs‘ family of choice: the owners of the showrooms in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Malta, Spain and, of course, Finland. Sven Ferber is and will remain part of the Fennobed family: „Sven has been with us for a long time and brings a lot of consulting experience to Dresden. We are particularly pleased that he is now not only managing director, but also owner of his own showroom,“ emphasizes Andreas Lehnhoff.
